Ingredients

  • 100g mashed firm tofu
  • 3 water chestnuts, chopped finely
  • 1 Pak Choi leaf, finely sliced
  • 1⁄4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. grated ginger
  • 45 wonton wrappers, or as needed
  • Egg Wash - 1 Egg & 1 tsp. of water
  • Small white onion, sliced finely
  • 2 tsp. carrots grated
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Pinch of pepper
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 1 tsp. sesame oil
  • 3 to 4 cups oil for deep- frying, as needed

Method

Stage 1

Lightly beat the egg with the salt and pepper. Combine the mashed tofu and vegetables into the egg mixture.

Stage 2

Heat the oil for deep-frying while you are wrapping the wontons.

Stage 3

To fill the wontons, lay a wrapper in front of you so that it forms a dia- mond shape. With your finger place some egg wash or water on all sides. Place a teaspoon of filling in the middle.

Stage 4

Fold the wonton in half from corner to opposite corner so it forms a trian- gle. Then scrunch together the longer two triangle points together to make the wonton shape.

Stage 5

Deep-fry the wontons for around 2 minutes until they are golden and crispy. They are now ready to serve and savour!
