Make your own shoes with Green Shoes...

Best foot forward

No, you didn't misread the headline, you really can learn how to make your very own pair of shoes, sandals or boots, thanks to one of the UK's leading ethical footwear and accessory companies, Green Shoes.

The shoemaking workshops – which run in South Devon on 25 September, 30 October and 20 November – are a rare opportunity to learn traditional skills from the professionals themselves.

The Green Shoes workshop is situated within a converted old mill on the banks of the River Dart. Classes are kept to a minimum and you'll receive all the support, tuition and materials you need.

The one-day course costs £175 and includes a full day of tuition, materials to make and decorate your shoes, your own pair of unique handmade shoes or sandals to take away, plus Fairtrade tea and coffee, and delicious organic biscuits and cakes to keep you going through the day.

Green Shoes also offer two-day boot-making workshops, but dates for these are yet to be confirmed (check the website for updates).
