The first months of the year are quite possibly the worst time to stick to a healthy-eating plan. With the post-festive season blues and wet, cold weather to contend with, that morning run seems so much less tempting than stopping off for a chocolate muffin on the way to work! But don't worry, Vegetarian Living is here to re-motivate you.
We've got healthy berry-based breakfasts from super-fit chef Gordon Ramsay to make sure you start your day the right way, and if you can't resist a sweet snack, try our nutrient-packed bars, balls and bakes that are ideal for refuelling on the run (page 88). Buddha bowls are all over Instagram and for good reason – they look so pretty. But if you stick to the perfect formula when you're assembling your ingredients, they're also really nourishing too. For inspiring midweek meals, this issue also includes a free book featuring 23 easy and healthy plant-based recipes too.
Elsewhere we've got ideas for everyday eating using the best of seasonal produce from Jerusalem artichokes to leeks, while families will love Kate Hackworthy's authentic-looking vegan hotdogs and homemade ketchup and Katy Holder's adaptable dishes that are a great solution for balancing adventurous flavours with the needs of fussy eaters.
Finally, don't forget Mother's Day is coming up, so why not surprise your mum with a gorgeous cake by the queen of baking, Mary Berry. After all, a little slice of heaven on a plate does everyone good – occasionally!
