Shortly before wrapping up production on this issue, we received some exciting news – VL regular Sarah Beattie has been shortlisted for a prestigious Guild of Food Writers Award, as a result of her food features for us. She has made it into the final three for the Evelyn Rose Award for Cookery Journalist of the Year, alongside Diana Henry and Yotam Ottolenghi – no small feat indeed!
Sarah has been creating delicious and inventive recipes for us since our very first issue, and continues to inspire us to get cooking with this month's holiday recipes to enjoy over the campfire.
Food writer Tori Finch continues the outdoor theme, as she combines a sense of the Middle East and the joy of a carefree picnic to create three tasty ideas to pack and go; while the Fabulous Baker Brothers, Tom and Henry Herbert, reinvent some great British classics from their travels around the UK.
Meryl Streep, Sir Paul McCartney and Archbishop Desmond Tutu share their recipes from a new charity cookbook that supports women in countries affected by war and conflict; and stylist and writer Heather Cameron celebrates the joys of growing, picking and cooking fresh from the garden with recipes from the Missing Goat Farm.
Also, Lindsey Harrad chats with Makini Howell, chef-proprietor of Seattle's successful and popular vegan restaurant, Plum Bistro; Liz Martin prepares a selection of versatile main-meals salads; and Sara Niven visits Neal's Yard Remedies to discover the enduring appeal of Britain's pioneering organic beauty brand... plus much more!
