There is no escaping chocolate at Easter. Gaudily wrapped eggs in excessive packaging have been gracing the shelves since Boxing Day, or so it seems. From a foodie's point of view, it feels rather strange to spend time creating healthy balanced meals for loved ones then watching them devour a year's worth of chocolate in one sitting. Even those of us who practise restraint (and there aren't many in this office!) will be interested to read Lindsey Harrad's feature on raw chocolate, and why it is so much better for you – and the planet – than the usual suspects.
Chocolate aside, we've tried to make Easter as easy as possible, with a great mix of high-end, entertaining suggestions and relaxed, casual dining recipes.
Food stylist and writer Tonia George is here to help you create the perfect start to those rare lazy mornings, with a selection of fabulous brunch ideas that are guaranteed to entice you out from under the duvet.
If you're looking for some quick, delicious and easy-to-plan family meals this Easter, then Liz Martin has the answer, with some great-tasting dishes using only a handful of ingredients. So very cheap and very cheerful!
Talking of cheerful, brighten up the dinner table with the lovely fresh flavours of Aussie chef Pete Evans's easy-going recipes and you'll love celebrity chef Simon Rimmer's restaurant-inspired dishes.
Also, we have a decadent dessert trolley of puddings from retro baking queen Tina Bester; Elaine Pearson talks to eminent food historian Caroline Yeldham about the vegetarian pioneer Thomas Allinson; and Sarah Beattie revives a few traditions of centuries past with some classic British recipes.
Plus, we're at the forefront of eco-news as ever, as Siobhan O'Neill delves into the growing problems of plastics and how you can play your part in making the future greener for your children.
