Strike gold

There's no denying that a tan can make you feel in holiday mode, but a real one carries risks of premature ageing and skin cancer.
ByFlavia is a new range of cruelty-free tanning products by professional dancer Flavia Cacace, who has been touring the UK with dance partner Vincent Simone.

Strike gold

Why did you decide to bring out a tanning range?
After over 20 years of using tan throughout my dancing career and never
really being happy with any products – they were either too dark, too light, too
sticky or patchy – I decided to work on my own range and create products I was
happy to use. All use eco-cert ingredients and are paraben-free.

Many people are reluctant to use tanning products after having past disasters. Do you have any tips?
Plenty! Moisturise lots, especially hands, knees and elbows – basically any parts of the body where the skin is drier. On these areas, pat gently with a mitt rather
than rubbing the product in. You can also gently dab with a tissue to remove excess product, which helps avoid these areas becoming too dark. All your products are cruelty-free. Is this an issue you feel strongly about? I'm a huge animal lover. I wanted my products to be tested on me and me alone, and once I was happy I passed them on to my fellow dancers. I try to support as many charities as possible and animal ones are always top of my list – currently I'm ambassador for the Dog Trouble Foundation based in Wokingham.
